What is 5-Amino-1MQ?

5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule inhibitor of NNMT (nicotinamide N-methyltransferase), an enzyme that is overexpressed in obese and aged fat tissue. By inhibiting NNMT, 5-Amino-1MQ activates fat cell metabolism, increases NAD+ levels in adipose tissue, and has been shown to reduce fat mass and improve metabolic health in animal models.

Mechanism of Action

NNMT consumes SAM (S-adenosylmethionine) and NAD+ precursors in fat cells, suppressing metabolism. 5-Amino-1MQ inhibits NNMT, allowing NAD+ levels to rise in adipose tissue, activating SIRT1 and other NAD+-dependent enzymes, increasing fat cell energy expenditure, and promoting fat mobilization.

5-Amino-1MQ Dosing Protocol

50–100 mg/day oral. Some researchers use 25–50 mg twice daily. No established clinical protocol. Animal studies used 5 mg/kg/day. Human equivalent dose: approximately 0.4–0.8 mg/kg/day.

Frequently Asked Questions about 5-Amino-1MQ

How does 5-Amino-1MQ work differently from GLP-1 agonists?
GLP-1 agonists reduce appetite and slow gastric emptying — they work through the brain and gut. 5-Amino-1MQ works directly in fat cells, activating their metabolism by inhibiting NNMT and raising NAD+. They can be stacked for complementary fat loss mechanisms — GLP-1 reduces caloric intake while 5-Amino-1MQ increases fat cell energy expenditure.
