What is Cerebrolysin?
Cerebrolysin is a mixture of low-molecular-weight peptides and amino acids derived from porcine brain tissue. It is approved in over 50 countries for Alzheimer's disease, stroke recovery, and traumatic brain injury. It contains multiple neuroprotective peptides including BDNF-like, NGF-like, and CNTF-like factors. It is one of the most clinically studied neuroprotective compounds.
Mechanism of Action
Cerebrolysin's peptide mixture activates multiple neuroprotective pathways: BDNF and NGF receptor activation, reduced amyloid-β production and aggregation, tau phosphorylation reduction, neuroprotection against excitotoxicity, promotion of neurogenesis, and anti-inflammatory effects in neural tissue.
Cerebrolysin Dosing Protocol
5–30 mL IV or intramuscular injection daily for 10–20 days (clinical protocol). For cognitive enhancement: 5–10 mL IM daily for 10 days, 1–2 times per year. IV administration is more effective than IM.
