What is Fisetin?

Fisetin is a naturally occurring flavonoid found in strawberries, apples, and other fruits. It is the most potent natural senolytic compound identified — it selectively kills senescent cells (zombie cells) that accumulate with age and drive inflammation and tissue dysfunction. It also has neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties.

Mechanism of Action

Fisetin is a senolytic that selectively induces apoptosis in senescent cells by inhibiting anti-apoptotic pathways (BCL-2, BCL-XL) that senescent cells rely on for survival. It also activates SIRT1, inhibits mTOR, reduces inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNF-α), and has direct antioxidant effects.

Fisetin Dosing Protocol

Senolytic protocol: 20 mg/kg/day for 2 consecutive days, repeated every 1–3 months (the 'Fisetin pulse' protocol). For a 75 kg person: ~1,500 mg/day for 2 days. Daily maintenance: 100–500 mg/day. Take with fat for better absorption.

Fisetin Benefits

Senolytic (clears senescent cells)
Reduced systemic inflammation
Neuroprotection and memory improvement
Anti-cancer effects
SIRT1 activation
mTOR inhibition
Extended lifespan in animal models

Side Effect Profile

Generally well-tolerated. Mild GI discomfort at high senolytic doses. Theoretical: removing too many senescent cells at once could cause immune activation (start with lower doses).

Frequently Asked Questions about Fisetin

What is the Fisetin senolytic protocol?
The most studied protocol is 20 mg/kg/day for 2 consecutive days, repeated every 1–3 months. This 'pulse' approach mimics how Dasatinib+Quercetin senolytics are used clinically. For a 75 kg person, this is ~1,500 mg/day for 2 days. Daily lower doses (100–500 mg) provide ongoing anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective benefits without the full senolytic effect.
