What is MOTS-c?

MOTS-c is a 16-amino acid mitochondria-derived peptide (MDP) encoded in the 12S rRNA region of the mitochondrial genome. It is often called an 'exercise mimetic' because it activates many of the same metabolic pathways as physical exercise, including AMPK activation and improved insulin sensitivity. It is one of the most exciting longevity peptides in current research.

Mechanism of Action

MOTS-c translocates to the nucleus in response to metabolic stress, where it activates AMPK and regulates the folate cycle and methionine metabolism. It improves insulin sensitivity, reduces fat accumulation, enhances mitochondrial function, and has anti-inflammatory effects. It also activates the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway.

MOTS-c Dosing Protocol

5–10 mg subcutaneous 3 times per week. Some protocols use 5 mg/day. Cycle: 4–8 weeks. Often stacked with Humanin and SS-31 for a comprehensive mitochondrial longevity protocol.
