What is Selank?
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is an analog of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, with added anxiolytic and nootropic properties. It is approved in Russia as an anxiolytic drug and has been used clinically for anxiety, depression, and cognitive enhancement for over 20 years.
Mechanism of Action
Selank modulates GABA-A receptors (similar to benzodiazepines but without addiction or tolerance), increases BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), enhances enkephalin metabolism, modulates serotonin and dopamine systems, and has immunomodulatory effects via tuftsin-like activity.
Selank Dosing Protocol
250–500 mcg intranasal 2–3 times daily. Subcutaneous: 250–500 mcg/day. Cycle: 10–14 days on, 5–7 days off (to prevent tolerance). Some users take it daily for extended periods without tolerance issues.
