What is Tesamorelin?

Tesamorelin is a synthetic GHRH analog that is FDA-approved (as Egrifta) for the treatment of HIV-associated lipodystrophy (excess visceral fat). It is the only FDA-approved peptide specifically for visceral fat reduction and has strong clinical evidence for body composition improvement.

Mechanism of Action

Tesamorelin binds to GHRH receptors in the pituitary, stimulating GH release. The elevated GH then drives IGF-1 production, which promotes lipolysis (fat breakdown) specifically in visceral adipose tissue. It has a stabilized structure that gives it a longer half-life than native GHRH.

Tesamorelin Dosing Protocol

2 mg subcutaneous injection daily (FDA-approved dose). Some researchers use 1 mg/day for anti-aging purposes. Inject in the morning or before bed on an empty stomach.

Frequently Asked Questions about Tesamorelin

Is Tesamorelin better than HGH for fat loss?
Tesamorelin is safer and more targeted. It stimulates natural GH production (pituitary self-regulates) rather than bypassing it. It's FDA-approved specifically for visceral fat, has strong clinical evidence, and has a better safety profile than exogenous HGH.
